On Course for Success: A Close Look at Selected High School Courses That Prepare All Students for College
This report is based on research conducted by ACT and The Education Trust into 10 high schools nationwide that are beating the odds and producing graduates who meet or exceed ACT's College Readiness Benchmark test scores. These schools did so despite serving high-minority and high-poverty student populations. Through intensive onsite studies, the researchers discovered what these schools' courses really look like and the components that put students "on course for success."
The National High School Alliance
NASSP was a founding member of this partnership of 50 organizations sharing a common commitment to promoting the excellence, equity, and development of high school-age youth.
Data Quality Campaign (DQC)
The Data Quality Campaign promotes the development and use of relevant data as an essential tool for improving schools. NASSP determined what kinds of data school leaders need and collaborated with DQC on the development of a data toolkit for principals. Another partner, the Council of Chief State School Officers, has developed www.SchoolDataDirect.org, a resource for school leaders to access and download data on any public school or district in the United States.
Pathways to College Network
This alliance of 38 national organizations and funders is committed to advancing college access and success for underserved students. Pathways, in collaboration with NASSP and others, has developed the
College Readiness for All Toolbox
, a dynamic action guide designed to help education professionals prepare more low-income and minority students for postsecondary education.
