NASSP has declared the week of April 16-April 20, 2012, as National Assistant Principals Week to honor and recognize the contributions of assistant principals to the success of students in schools across the United States.
National Recognition
In honor of National Assistant Principals Week, Congresswoman Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio) has introduced H. Res. 626, a resolution expressing support for National Assistant Principals Week and recognizing the hard work and dedication of APs throughout the year.
Celebrating AP Week
NASSP will mark National Assistant Principals Week by hosting all of the NASSP/Virco National Assistant Principal of the Year program winners in Washington, D.C. The NASSP/Virco National Assistant Principal of the Year award honors a single winner from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the Department of Defense Education Activity (DODEA) schools. From that pool of outstanding administrators, one national winner is chosen.
During their stay in Washington, state and national winners will be honored at a black-tie event and will meet with their members of Congress to discuss the many challenges facing school leaders today. The winners will also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of networking activities with their peers.
Assistant Principal Appreciation Video Contest
NASSP and SchoolTube invite everyone to participate in the first-ever Assistant Principal Appreciation Video Contest. Create a short video telling the world how much you appreciate all that your APs do, and upload it to SchoolTube with the tag "apweek12". The two videos with the most views as of May 1, 2012, will win two student registrations and one adult registration for a LEAD Conference of their choice! Anyone may submit a video, but the winners must have an active chapter of NHS, NJHS, and/or NASC. The winners will be notified by May 4, 2012. For more information, please view the AP Appreciation Video Contest FAQ or contact recognition@nassp.org.
AP Week Juggling Game
Trying to think of a fun way to let your APs know how much you appreciate their hard work? NASSP has created a special Flash-based game that recognizes how many tasks APs have to juggle each and every day. Tell your APs to take a quick break and visit www.nassp.org/APGame for a hilarious distraction from their hectic schedules. Please note, this game is not supported for iOS devices (iPhones, iPads, etc.).
