National Principals Month

October 2011 is National Principals Month

Join Us in Celebrating

To recognize the essential role that principals play in preparing today's students for the challenges of tomorrow, NASSP and the National Association of Elementary School Principals have declared October 2011 as National Principals Month.

Principals are among the hardest working, yet often least recognized individuals in education. Principals set the academic tone for their schools, and it is their vision, dedication, and determination that provide the mobilizing force behind any school reform effort. National Principals Month seeks to honor these unsung heroes for their tireless efforts in pursuit of excellence in education.

The U.S. Senate has passed S. Res. 277, introduced by Sen. Al Franken (D-MN), which honors principals for their contributions to student success and marks October 2011 as National Principals Month.

To kick off National Principals Month in October, MetLife and NASSP will host a special banquet in Washington, DC, in late September, to honor the 2011 State Principals of the Year, as well as the 2012 MetLife/NASSP National High School Principal of the Year and the 2012 MetLife/NASSP Middle Level Principal of the Year.
