Sample Parent Letter for School National Middle Level Education Month

National Middle Level Education Month
March 2010

Dear Parent or Guardian,

We invite you to join the students and staff of  (School Name) during the month of March to help us celebrate National Middle Level Education Month.  This annual recognition of middle level education provides us with a special opportunity to focus the attention of our community and the nation on a very special time in the educational careers of children.

The theme for this year, Shining the Spotlight on Middle Level Education, reminds us why it is so important that middle level students strive to expand and sharpen all of their academic skills. The habits that students develop during their young adolescent years follow them for quite some time. We are all aware of the need for students to achieve academically at a high level, but we also need to remember that high achievement requires a supportive environment. A supportive environment is important at home and at school. Sometimes it seems that our children want us to disappear during this age, but they really do need family and parents to be involved. Asking questions about what your child is learning in school or attending school functions demonstrate your interest and concern for their success.

Throughout the month of March, we will be hosting a variety of activities that promote student success throughout our school. We encourage you to get involved and help us celebrate student success by supporting our efforts at home. This can be done by setting aside some time each day for reading or talking about what is happening in each class. Whatever you do, remember to celebrate your children's efforts and successes.

We know that middle school is the time when friends and activities saturate the children's schedules however, taking time to discuss your child's current work in school and future plans is a very good way to support their success in school. National Middle Level Education Month and its theme Shining the Spotlight on Middle Level Education is our way of reinforcing the importance of always doing your best work, considering the impact of today's effort on the future, and being supportive of each student.

Sincerely,
